Bessie L. Deering, has now began her celebration of 91 years of a great earthly life, and she has new entered into EVERLATING in Heaven on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. She was born on February 21, 1921, to John A. and Dorothy E. (Utter) Lewin, Sr. in Aberdeen, Washington.
Her home chores included were varied. At the age of four she started washing dishes by standing on a chair and also helped raise her nine siblings.
She attended schools in Aberdeen including Miller Junior High School and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1940.
Bessie was married to Charles F. Deering in 1941 in Aberdeen. They resided in Aberdeen for a very brief time prior to moving to Hoquiam and had only lived in two different houses in Hoquiam. Charles died on December 15, 1996.
She was active in her churches, the Harbor Assembly of God in Hoquiam and the Heritage Family Church in Aberdeen and taught Sunday school in both for over 40 years.
Bessie was an excellent cook and exhibited her gracious hospitality to her family and friends. She was a servant of family and friends. She loved her husband, son and extended family. She liked crocheting and doing all types of needlework.
She enjoyed politics and served on the local election board for numerous years.
She will long be remembered for loving the Lord with all her heart, soul and mind from the time she was a young girl.
Bessie is survived by her son, Bob Deering of Hoquiam, Washington; her brothers, John A. (Laverna) of Shelton, Washington, Robert Lewin, Sr. (Jeannie) of Aberdeen, Washington, Harold Lewin, Sr. of Olympia, Washington, Gerald Lewin (Mary June) of Oneida, Wisconsin, and Delbert Lewin (Carol) of Tumwater, Washington; her sisters, Ida Mae Eldred of Oakville, Washington, Lois Root of Shelton, Washington and Donna Brooks of Aberdeen, Washington. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Lewin and a sister, Maxine Selin who died on June 15, 2012.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 5 pm on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam, Washington.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, November 9, 2012, at the Heritage Family Church, 111 West Wishkah Street in Aberdeen with Pastor Herb Christensen officiating. Interment will follow in the Elma Masonic Cemetery.
