Darlene Christensen died on October 24, 2012, at the age of 75.
Darlene was born January 21, 1937, to James Hayes and Emma Florence Denney.
In 1955, Darlene married Robert Christensen and four boys were born, Robert, James, Dennis and Marty. Then in 1963, she became a single mother raising four boys. She went back to school to get a better job, evenetually going to work for the state as a Vocational Rehab Counselor in Olympia before moving to the Aberdeen office as a lead counselor.
In the eighties Darlene worked as a counselor and on the boards of Domestic Violence programs in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties and also worked as a case worker for the Quinault Tribe. In 1978, she met Charles “Sonny” Jackson, becoming life partners. Darlene and Sonny raised many foster children and some grandchildren. They adopted Darlene’s grandson, Dennis.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Sonny; a brother, Russell Denney; her boys, Robert, James, Dennis and Marty: her adopted son, Dennis and special friend, Kathy Curry.
Along her life’s path with her gentle spirit, she made this world a better place for those who knew her and touched. She will be missed.
A celebration of life will start at Noon on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at her and Sonny’s home, 1000 W. 1st St, Aberdeen.
