Robert Benson Andrich

Our loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Robert Benson Andrich, died peacefully at his home in Hoquiam, Washington, on April 22, 2012. He was 82.

Bob was born September 26, 1929, in Astoria, Oregon, to Joseph and Lydia Andrich. He married Joanne Leahy in Astoria on August 22, 1953. She preceded him in death in 1999. He was a graduate of Star of the Sea High School and the University of Portland.

He proudly served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955, and was awarded the Nation Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He then attended Willamette Law School where he earned his J.D. in 1958.

Bob practiced law in Junction City, Oregon until 2001. An active member of the community, he was a member of Kiwanis, Moose Lodge, Saint Helen’s Parish, American Legion and the Elks Lodge. He was a devoted Beaver fan and cherished his membership in the Beaver Club. Bob was Mayor of Junction City, Oregon from 1969 to 1971.

Bob is survived by five children; Bob Andrich Jr. of Elma, Washington, Sarah Pawelko of Aberdeen, Washington, Missy (Kenin) Page of Salem, Oregon, Joe Andrich of Astoria, Oregon, and Amy (Glenn) Russell of Astoria, Oregon; one brother, Dale Andrich of Bend, Oregon, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Mary, Star of the Sea Memorial Fund, 1465 Grand Avenue in Astoria, Oregon 97103.

A Memorial Mass will be held on May 5th at 11:00 a.m., preceded with a Recitation of the Rosary, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Astoria, Oregon. Father Ken Sampson will serve as the presiding celebrant. Burial will follow at the Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton, Oregon.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam.
